Default Top speeds for each gear

Just wondering how much I can take my stock 06 f4i in each gear.

So far this is all I've seen
1st - 45 - 60ish
2nd - 70-75
3rd - 90ish
4, 5, 6 - 100(& cruise mode)

I barely look down at the gauges when I'm riding, so can somebody tell me what approx rpm's i could be on. I'm pretty sure I've never crossed 10k on the rpms.

Is revving your bike hard bad in anyway...

Also what is a rev-limiter, it's purpose, etc etc

Thanks

i dont understand the first part, if you hit over 40 in 1st im pretty sure thats past 10thou rpm
the rev limiter is what limits the revs.
redline(14,250k) it messes with the spark timing and it cant turn itself any faster. its a safe limit, not really going to hurt the engine, definetly need maintnence sooner tho!
all the power is from 9-redline

Then maybe I did, I never really bothered about the rpms & besides that I don't think I accelerate hard at all so I presumed that I never went above 10k, cause by the time i get to look down at the rpms, I'm around 7-8k in 6th gear in the hov lane. The speedo is nice & big & it easily catches my eye so I atleast know the speeds.

Question: How do you know when u've hit the rev-limiter, besides looking at it.

you'll hear the rev limiter when you hit it, my buddy hit his passing a car one night that i guess was broke down in the middle of the road but he decided to turn off his lights and not put on his hazard lights i was 2 bikes behind him and saw the guy jump and turn on his hazards just thought it was funny

Here is a graph I did for the F4... it is in excel so if you want it you can have it... I use the spreadsheet for picking sprockets and for checking dyno results.

I switched it to mph with stock F4 sprockets:

Just check the ratios... and the tire value is the circumference of the tire in meters... if you have a better value for that give me a holler. I haven't measured mine perfectly yet.

i dont think the gearing is the same between an f4 and a f4i

cuz ive been faster then 165 and it was around 13,200rpm
but i do remember when i redlined my wheelie in 2nd i landed at 95... so maybe it would have only been around 90 if i didnt hit the rev limiter

Excuse my lack of knowledge but is there a formula to do this, as in throw in the parameters & you can come up with a chart for any bike. I could probably make an applet if thats the case. Any links to do such calculations would be appreciated

Thanks

Very easy math yes.

Basically you have

Speed in km/h =
engine speed / ( gear ratios) * 60 to convert to Revs Per Hour * tire circumerence in meters / 1000 metersPerKilometers

Times that by .6 ish and you have miles per hour.

I've got it as an excel spreadsheet - I just drop in the gear ratios and run it.

REMEMBER THIS IS REAL WORLD SPEED NOT SPEEDO INDICATED SPEED.

I've got a spread sheet done for shafties and for our chain driven bikes... I was going to make it into a php script that took the various ratios and made a speed chart which highlited your peek hp/ peek torque marks...
