Yeah, that's how I did it too. I tightened them in all the way, then counted the number of revolutions equally on each side until slack was adjusted. Afterwards I took a yard stick and placed it on each side of the tire, then looked to see that it was of equal distance on each side of the frame.

Well, I'm no expert on it, but it seems reasonable that if it's centered on to the frame then it ought to be straight. Hopefully if someone reads this and sees a flaw in this rationale, they'll point it out to us

well and one thing i was also wondering is this....i dont have a rear stand so before i tighten the nuts back down do i want to pull back on the tire to make sure its all the way back? or will it adjust once i start rollin i dunno im prolly lookin into it to much but riding season is comin up soon for me and i wanna get everything dialed in ahead of time

You don't need a stand to adjust the chain, it just makes it a little easier. But that's a good question. I noticed the same thing too. There's a bit of a gap in the adjusting screws (about .5mm) that allows the axle to move just a little bit; not very precise. I also noticed on mine, that after I tightened down the axle bolt, the chain gained more slack than before I tightened it down (PITA). So to compensate for that, I ended up adjusting the chain on the tight side, then once the axle bolt was torqued, I re-checked the slack making sure it was within spec. As far as that little bit of play between the adjusting screw, I think you just have to get it so that it's "good enough". After about an hour, I came to that conclusion, lol.

I'm pretty sure there are notches or SOMETHING that shows you where you are at, so you can measure up on both sides.

And if you know you're within 1/2 a notch of the other side, why don't you fix it and make it even? lol

Yes there is, but they're difficult to read. You can get in the general ballpark with the notches (and maybe thats good enough), but if you're obsessive, measuring is more exact. imo
