I you can only go down one tooth on the front sprocket. From what I've been hearing, this will make a big difference, so you could try it with -1 on the front, and then always go +1 or +2 in the rear if you get bored with it. I can't believe people are doing -1 +2, I already have hard time keeping my front end down under hard acceleration, and my gear ratio is stock!

I went down one up front. Huge difference in acceleration off the line. I was drag racing (I know, bad) my buddy in a deserted industrial park where there is a quarter mile straightaway. He's on a 05' CBR 1000RR, I'm on my F4i (15/46). I had a bike length lead but once I shifted to second he was still in first and made up the gap. It was surprsingly close. We got off the bikes and he couldn't believe how fast this "little" bike is. I think, for me personally, down one (front)/ up two (rear) would be overkill. Front wheel lifts under hard acceleration with the down one mod. With -1/+2, it'd probably come up in second and maybe third gear if you're on it really hard under acceleration, on the track of course.

I think that if you go up three in the rear, it's the same as going up one in the front. You just have to watch for clearance issues and buy a long enough chain.

I have a 02 f4i with a slip on and k&n and mine wont come up unless i make it. No matter what rpm i hit the throttle at it doesnt come up even at 10k in first gear. I can preload and it will come up maybe your just not leaning into it or something. I went -1 +2 cause i want more accelaration and for it to come up in first off the throttle

No, no going up one in front will decrease your gear ratio, not increase it. This will have the opposite effect than what you are looking for.

Maybe on a Kawasaki, but I heard you can't do it on an F4i. Not sure though, I may be wrong, thats just what I've heard.

OOOPS!!! Doh, I meant to say up three on the rear is the same as DOWN one up front (which is the mod I did--15/46)

*edit* I used to have a YZF600R and a common mod on that bike is the -1/+2 (14/49). Those bikes are able to accommodate the +0/+3 mod (15/50) without any clearance issues. I think they need a 110 link chain instead of 108 link, I could be wrong here and am too lazy to look it up...
