Default sticks in neutral

Hey everyone. Took the bike to work this morning and a lot of the time when I shift from 1st to 2nd it gets stuck in neutral. Usually going back to first then trying for second again will work, but there are times when It gets really stuck in neurtal and i have to give it a few good flicks to get it in gear. Anybody ever had a similar issue? I dunno what to do and I don't want to take it to the stealership to get raped with fees.

By the way its an 01 F4i.

im not sure if its the bike or the way your shifting (no offense) it happens to me sometimes i think what it might be is your not kicking it up hard enough or if you do get stuck in neutal let out the clutch pull it back in and shift again

Have you recently tightened your chain? Mine did that to me once last summer cause I over tightened the chain.

I know it's not the way I'm shifting because it doesn't matter how hard to kick it up sometimes it sticks and WILL NOT go into second. Doesn't happen every time but when it does happen it usually happens a few times in a row. and in city, stop and go riding, its a real pain in the *** not to mention danger when you have cars speeding up behind you.

I did recently tighten my chain as i had to change my tires. I'll double check the chain when I get home tonight.

make sure that your shift pedal is adjusted right to the drum. if the alignment is off then you will have a hard time getting it into second. i had this happen and when i adjusted it the problem went away. id check that first before you tear it apart.
