Default Steering Stem Spanner Nuts Torque

Alright, Under the top triple bracket the steering stem is held on by two spanner nuts rights... well what are the torque specs on these nuts? how the hell do you properly torque these type of nuts? lol

At one point I put new forks on the bike and tightened it to where I thought appropriate. If I tightened it too much there was resistance on the steering but too little and, well it obviously was too little. Now, when I stop abruptly I can hear/feel it clunking as if it isn't tightened enough.

If there is a torque wrench meant for this application I definitely don't have it. But any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Could you post a pic so I can see what ones you are referring to? Then I will try to look it up in the manual and let you know

If it is #5 then it looks like it is 18 FT LBS and you will need a steering stem socket (Honda part# 07916-3710101)

Thanks everyone. The socket is about $60. I might go ahead and pick it up...

Or just use a flat head and hammer combo lol

Make your own! I bought a big impact socket at Checker for about $20 and went to town with a grinder. Bring one of the nuts with you to find a socket that works best. Here is a picture of the Honda one to get an idea:
