Starter turns over but bike will not start

We checked every single fuse, twice lol. We've charged the battery a bunch so we know it's not that either. The neutral light does come on, we've done the kickstand thing as well. I don't believe that we've checked to see if the signal is passing through the KS yet, we will try that. Unfortunately I don't know anybody else with an F4i

The ignition switch has a zener diode in it that supplys like 8 volts to the ecu so that if someone tries to bypass it by hotwiring, it gives 12 volts and the ecu will not fire the fuel pump. Unfortunately I don't, how would you check this without swapping the ignition switch?

Turn the ignition on and measure the voltage at the pink wire. it goes from the ignition back to i believe 19 on the ecm. I dont remember the exact voltage but I think it should be 8 volts.

Hey, funny story...
I just bought a '01 F4i about 3 weeks ago. Went to look at he bike after seeing the add and wanted to make sure everything was good. The dude had the bodywork off of it because it had some minor rash on the left side that he started to repair, but all of a sudden he needed some quick cash so he was selling "as is"

The guy told me that the bike runs great! So we proceeded to try to start it and got nothing but cranking over and no fire. The dude said "maybe I unplugged something when I took of the bodywork because it ran perfect when I parked it last fall." Sure enough, I plug the front fairing in and voila, the fuel pump kicks in! I set the front fairing down and try to start the bike again. Crank and crank but still nothing.

Fast forward 45 minutes, still no fire. Then the guy is looking at his service manual and says, "it must be the bank angle sensor." I will get it figured out and then re-list the bike.

Hearing this, I was upset that I was not going to be taking home a new toy. Then I tell the guy, "pick that front fairing up and hold it level."

He does and varoom, the bike fired right up.

I'm assuming that you have the fairing mounted on the bike but incase you don't, make sure that you have it upright and fairly level. I thought I would share this little story cause I found it funny after the fact that something so simple could be so frusrating.

So, after reading this it hit me. We had all the wiring connected, but the front fairing is sitting on a chair. We never put it on because we couldn't get it running...so there was no point, yet. I called my friend and told him to hold the fairing up while he tried to start it (it's at his house, long story) and immediately I hear **BRRRRRrrrrrr**.

So...I'd feel dumb, but who woulda thunk it? lolol. We spent a LOT of time trying to figure this out, you have no idea how much I owe you!!! Awesomeness. Yes, it now runs perfectly and my headache is relieved (because we checked EVERYTHING). Hilarious that it was something so simple...

Could have saved you alot of time stressing on this if you told the truth from the beginning. Earlier you said the fuel was priming. Ohwell, atleast you figured it out.

Initially, we thought it was priming (mis-took the HID lights coming on for that, stupid I know). An honest mistake, but I did later say it wasn't priming ^^

I think someone (maybe even me) should make a sticky post with a list of basic trouble shooting for different problems. I know there is a list in manual but Im thinking we could make a more detailed list of what to check. Everyone can give input and then a mod can put it as one post for sticky. Just a thought. Could save some people like the OP from chewing their wrists.

i was thinking that it was the bank angle sensor the whole time, but you said that you bypassed it and still had no luck... turns out you didn't even have it plugged in? i had the same thing happen to me last week. i bypassed the BAC, turned the bike on and she fired right up.
