Shoes
I wear my 4 year old tennis shoes that I wear for mowing the lawn, only 2 activities I use them for. I can't justify forking over $2-300 for a pair of leather high tops. I don't do track days or twisties since they dont exist in my neck of the woods.
I wear my Adidas shoes. The rubber shell tops don't get torn up by the shifter.
I could never wear boots while riding. Not even when riding dirt bikes. For me, they just aren't comfortable and they never feel right. Too bulky I guess. I may try a pair of those shoe-boot hybrids though.

I'v been looking at / saving up for the Sidi Streetburners. It seem like you good protection, and comfort for a 3/4 length. I'm not interested in a full boot, my friend has a pair and he loves them. Has any one try them?

The 3/4 boots or short top boots look cool, but don't really offer much protection from twisting ankle injuries or frontal impacts like a real pair of riding/racing boots will. That said, they are way better than sneakers. Anything that is zipped on snug is better than only laces, tennis shoes with laces tend to easily fly right off. And of course, leather is better than canvas.
Using the "I wear boots, but I wear sneakers if I'm only going down to the store or low speed" excuse is kinda lame, just say "I don't feel like it right now." Afterall, the logic is flawed, has no one ever been hurt or killed close to home in a low speed accident?
There are only two reasons for not wearing adequate foot and leg protection in my mind: "I want to but for whatever reason I can't", and "I don't want to". Either is acceptable to me. I am a ATGATT rider, but if someone doesn't want to wear boots, I don't say a word. Adults can decide how important their feet and ankles are to them and what level of risk is acceptable. Just know the facts and make an informed decision.

I crashed years ago with sneakers and grinded the ***** of my ankles and tore up my feet pretty bad as well as the rest of me...was also wearing a t-shirt and jeans...After that never again....Once in a while I admit I will do it however only for a short ride...Fuel up or go to store......I understand it cost money for gear. However I am a very good at finding deals...paid 50$ for alpinestars (Used), 50$ for brand new Teknics boots....other pair I got with a full suit that I bought..There are good deals out there...You just have to know where to look..Safety to me is worth more than looking good...You can't buy feet!!!!.....lol
