Shift Light Brainstorm

Shift Light Brainstorm
I'm a motor enthusiast and recently discovered two Aussie's on the internet who do a show on YouTube called "MightyCarMods".
One episode they rig up a shift light into the dash of their friend's Skyline. The general idea they had was purchasing a shift light and then removing everything from the housing (light, electrical, etc) so they could install it flush to the dash.
I was wondering if anybody has ever done this before or has any idea of how to do this. I'm going to be doing the LED tach mod in January so I figured I'll be working the same area. Installing the light would just be for "funzies" as I do not plan on tracking the bike or anything.
Ideas? Comments?

I would do it the same as they did, buy a programable shift light, take it apart and mount the electronic internals in a tucked away location...the tail fairing, under the fuel tank, up around the front of the airbox, pretty much anywhere you can safely hide it. Then run power/ground extensions for the light itself up to the dash area. Where you mount the light is your choice but you could always get a different size and color shift light to mount as you want it. The only hard part is where do you want the light since it's only for show. Cool idea though, I like it!
