Well I got it off finally...the cable/key hole works fine it is the actual metal latch that is not sliding far enough over to unlatch the hook when I turn the key...the cable does not pull the metal latch over for full clearance. see the pics...when I turn the key, the cable pulls and the latch opens but not far enough to unhook the seat...I had to manually push it over so that there is clearance for the hook/seat to come up and off...any way to fix this?

Here it is in locked position

Here is FULL key turn...it only pulls the metal piece part way instead of fully

Good advice haha. sorry. back on track now.

My general knowledge would tell me that the cable is stretched and needs to be replaced, however i've never seen how that works so best wait for someone to confirm that.

Well I disassembled the whole lock and I'm not sure what the deal is! There are two places where I see the cable "turn" on a circular pulley..One back by the keylock itself and one by the hinge where the metal apperatice and hook are...Its almost like if I had the option to have the key turn 1/4 turn more it would pull the latch all the way thus letting the pillion seat to detach. How do I "tighten" the cable or is there any place I can tighten/alter the cable tension? In theory, if I could cut just a few mm off the cable and reattached/solder it back, it would pull the hinge all the way like its supposed to...I obviously don't want to go through all that work though...Any idea's?

Any ideas on how to tighten the cable and/or anything I can alter/change to make this lock work properly again? There's got to be some peeps on here that have taken this whole cable/lock.pulley mechanism apart before

Maybe there is a new one you could compare yours to to see if its stretched?

cable probably isnt stretched.(the hulk wasnt opening your trunk)...
You need to mount the black outer part near the key turny thing further away from the key turny thing.

See my bracket on the bottom of this pic? I had to bend it slightly to the right for mine to open.

Rez thanks so much man. In the back of my mind I knew it was something like this (bending or moving a bracket) but I am confused about your directions. It looks like you relocated your lock to the undertail..that "pulley" on the bottom of your pic is back near my tail-light next to the keylock itself..then the other "pulley" is near the bracket. In your pic, the silver bracket with the bolt on it merely keeps the pull hook apparatus in place..what bracket are you talking about? The little black one at the bottom of your pic holding the cable plastic bit in place? If so, where the hell is mine located? and I assume I need to bend it towards the pulley so the tension is tighter?

Yours should be located about 3/4" away from your keyhole locky thing wherever you put that now.

Thanks everyone and Rez- I didnt bend the bracket (that thing was thick metal) I came up with the idea of putting a bolt spacer in place of the screw that houses the clip that holds the cable in place..It in turn raised the cable 1/8'' and now pulls the lever fully! Mission accomplished. Thanks again guise!
