See that it does then.

Good idea the only thing I would be scared on doing this is if it buckles already at 10k it might buck really hard if he down shifts. Which could make him fly off.

By chance do you ever have hard starting, strong gas smell, poor fuel economy? I wonder if you fuel pressure regulator is so shot that it can't keep a consistent amount of pressure of fuel in the line line.

flame throwers are cool....

So when it hits 10k is just stays there very steady and smooth running? First visually check that the throttles are fully open when the grip is twisted. Then check fuel pressure.

Bike is snowed in. Hopefully I'll get it out sometime soon.

Thanks for the help everyone, I'll update the thread when I get the bike out and get it figured out.

Quick update: got to take the bike out for a short ride yesterday after work. Too scared to try the forced downshift, but now when I hit 10K rpm the FI light comes on.

Just in case it's relevant, the bike has a Yoshi (I think it's an RS3) exhaust put on by the PO. No power commander and I don't think the guy had anything remapped. Too much of a squid for that.

Ok, thanks. I'll be pulling the tank off one warm day to replace the air filter, I'll check/replace the fuel filter than. Any way to visibly see if it needs replacing?

I'm not sure one the bike filters but in the auto industry we dump fuel out of them in both directions and compare the colors. Sometime even blow through them to feel the restriction
