Default remove the chain gaurd?

Is there any real down side to not having a chain gaurd on?

I don't care for the look of the ugly plastic thing and want to take it off

yeah....lube getting flung all over the freakin place...but i know we had a thread here about who runs with it off and it's pretty evenly split....

if you don't care about the lube, remove it, if you just want a better looking chain guard...you can find a nice metal one online for not that much and paint...that's what i did....i hated the flimsy plastic one...my new one is metal with "CBR" cut into it....got matching heel guards as well....
