Rear Seat Stuck, Won't unlock - FIXED (Pic)
So I was able to get enough info from past postings before posting my first post, after successfully fixing this problem that almost cost me a helmet ticket when it occured on a trip. I didn't have to remove the front seat as was said in other posts, but it did help me to see what was going on under there.
So the seat lock cable sheath is terminated with a metallic and white plastic bung that you can see hiding where I circled in the picture (this is the best I could get with only two hands). You can push the brake light up about half an inch, just enough to stick a screwdriver in there and prop the cable up into its little hangar. You don't have to worry about sitting it in place, just propping it up will give it the leverage you need, when the key is turned, to pull the cable and pop the lock (again a third hand would be nice, but I managed without). Viola! You can get back into your compartment, retrieve your helmet and continue riding. I plan to modify that hangar in the future so that the cable can't come off.
