Default Rattling noise when hot

Noise is heard when my 02 f4i is warmed up. I can have the bike parked in neutral and hear a rattle. but I can make it go away if I press the clutch lever in enough to get the slack out the cable with out engaging. Does anyboby know what the problem is?and is it serious?

You know in my opinion I would say any time a rattle is heard, the cam chain tensioner should be the very first thing that should be replaced/adjusted if you have a manual one. Sadly these f4i's are known for their pathetic eom tensioners. You should do yourself a favor and replace the cct and then go from there. With that all your doing is simply eliminating one possibility and you'll just have to replace the cct at some point anyways. If the noise continues, then you just keep your other cct as a back up for when the new one goes bad etc. I would start with the easiest thing first if it was me and see what happens after that.

If your touching the clutch lever and cable and the noise is stopping then its def the clutch.

Whether the plates are worn and rattling around in the basket of possibly one of your springs broke and when you engage it puts the pressure on it and stops the rattling of the spring
