Default Rattling noise

I have 13,000 miles on my bike
At about 4.5k to 5.5 k rpm..i have a rattling sound on my 01 f4i...it seems to becoming from infront of the tank, around the speedometer area?

I have read that the CCT (cam chain tensioner) must be replaced? is this true? is that the only thing that has to be replaced to fix this problem? Will this fix the problem for good?

you are right it is the cam chain tensioner. i have the same problem on my 01 F4i with 15k miles. as far as i have heard, it doesnt effect the performance of the bike. i have also heard it is a costly repair. somewhere around 200$.

it's bling if you take it to the shop. the cctl is located on the right side, just below the tank...so just a bit below where your right knee would be.
however, it could sound like it's coming from the front of the bike.

It cost me 60 bucks and an hour of my time to do it myself.

Get a manual CCT from APE for $51 + shipping. The instructions are really easy to follow and installation is a snap. Well at least it was on my F2, haven't done it on my f4i yet.

Here's the link to their website. clicky
