Raising the rear end

Raising the rear end
I have noticed that not just a couple but all of the newer bikes I have riden have the rear end raised up higher than the stock F4i position. I was wondering if anyone has tried raising the rear end even 1 inch or so because I would like to see how it feels differently in normal riding and cornering.

RE: Raising the rear end
Are you talking about changing the suspension setup? Go to www.sportrider.com and check out their recommended settings. Then tweak beyond that to your personal preference. It will make a big difference. I would change up your front settings while your at it also.
Good luck!

RE: Raising the rear end
you can't raise the rear end as you wish with the stock shock. upgraded ones like the penske (mines) and ohlins allows you to raise the rear with the turn of a bolt!
as for the stocker, you can add a few washers on the upper mounting side of the shock. i think max to raise safely is like 3mm or something...but know what? it makes a whole mess of difference as far as turn in speed...but stability will be a bit worse...

Sounds like you might have some self image problems if you are considering anything over 145lbs as fat. Maybe if you are 4'10". I would say if you don't weight > 145lbs then you have an eating disorder. haha

I've got Ohlins and the back end is noticably higher. I don't notice any stability loss. Actually I get better feel and confidence. I've got aftermarket front end as well. Highly recommended for fatboys (anyone over 145lbs).

Hilarious. No image problem here. I'm 6'1 210lbs. It was a joke referring to the fact that the engineers design Japanese sportbikes for 145lb (& 5'2" IIRC)riders.

Is there not even an adjuster to raise it a little. I know my girlfriends 636 has one on it and a couple of my buddies have adjusters on there stock shock.
