Default Race outcome...

Hope this doesn't make me sound like some squid, but do any of you know if a '02 F4i (modded) could possibly beat a '98 Suzuki TL1000S(stock V-Twin) down the strip? [sm=smiley14.gif]

I'd be willing to bet that the F4i would beat it by a little bit. It'd be really close at least.

I made a mistake, the bike I was wondering about was a Suxuki TL1000R, I think it's pretty much the same as a TL1000S but with more plastics. [sm=tongue.gif] (thanks for the tip Jaybird180) I clicked on the link where it said "performance numbers" but it seems Sport Rider misplaced there horsepower and other specs where there was supposed to be the 1/4 mile times. Nevertheless I found a website that had them. Stock bike numbers are as follows...

Suzuki TL 1000R = 11.0 sec / 132 mph

Honda CBR 600F4i = 10.9 sec / 127mph

Looks like a pretty good match up to me...

I've seen most rags go with 10.7 for F4i

10.9 did seem low to me as well, I have a back issue of "Motorcyclist Magazine" and it says that a 2001 F4i will run a 10.75 at 129mph. Hmmm... lol

Seeing how you have had first hand expierence on the TL1000, how is the handling characteristics compared to the F4i? Just curious... The TL1000's look like a V-Twin powered Hayabusa to me, just an older look in the headlights though.

the tls had a descent fork but a crappy rear suspension set-up. the handling was pretty good, better than the 550lb busa. the 98' and later model tl's had detuned engines, but the everything else was the same. the v-twin power is a boatload of fun, but an F4i will run circles around a tls as far as handling goes and dust the 98' and later models in the 1/4. i also had an 02' model 1000r. the handling was heavy but solid and stable. it had good low end and great top-end for a v-twin. it would pull to the limiter like a 4 cylinder. your in for a tough race against a tl1000r
