you just have to turn the bike off and back on to reset the sensor. that would be pretty poor design if you had to buy a new one
Thats what I was hoping, just there seems a lot of horror stories on the forum when a bike falls down and won't start after.

how does it work? Is it like a mercury switch that cuts off the ignition or what?

Mercury switch.... thats funny..... how old are you?

Just messing with you -- A buddy of mine has an iPhone and he was wondering how it automatically switched to landscape/portrait mode and I told him it had a mercury swith (he did not know any better).... funny stuff
I'm 20. I was just wondering how the switch itself functions. I'm not aware of other types of switches that are activated by angle.

on some bikes you need to let the switch reset itself...sometimes it takes a few minutes to reset, which is why racers bypass it, so they can get right back up and ride if they have a minor lowside

short the red wire with the white stripe into the ground (green) and yes its weird to use green for ground, also very strange to have black + wires, definitly not us spec engineering

After I lowsided the bike started right back up but now it is 50/50 on whether or not she will start and I have been stranded before because the bike wouldnt start. If I let the bike sit for a couple of days then she starts right back up but then after I ride it starts acting up... the shop told me it was most likely the bank angle sensor... so i dont think that it is as simple as resetting itself and it is all taken care of.

If I was you I would replace it. I can understand why someone would bypass it if they're racing, but if you plan on just street riding, why take the chance of going down, doing damage to the bike and making it worse by the bike not cutting off.

I know mine works. When I first started riding (2 months ago) I "kissed" a guardrail and went down. I put a hole in my starter cover. If the bike would have keep running, it would have been running with little oil in it and laying on its side. I'm glad mine cut off.

I would just bypass it man. It's easy to do and you don't need to spend any money. Yeah sure your bike will still run for hours on end after you crash and all your oil drains out of your bike...if so I think you will have bigger issues than your bike running dry. Seriouslly, your bike could run for an easy 5 minutes w/o oil and it wouldn't make it seeze up or anything too serious. If you still want to replace your tip sensor, let me know because I don't see putting mine back in any time soon.
