i tried to actually follow the manual one day, and shift at 12mph, etc. it was one of the most difficult things i've ever done. 12 mph comes up so quickly that it's so difficult to be able to shift up and not bog the bike down.. I think Honda did that so they could say they support safe riding on the F4i..because it's a joke.

on another note, these boys do know what they're talking about, so take their advice and shift where you please

I don't have a Yoshi but I too only shift at redline. I like to call it the Ricky Bobby way of riding.

I try to shift when the bike sounds and feels like she wants to. Those Honda shift speeds are ridiculous! My f4i would not enjoy that pattern of shifting

My F3 would hate that shift pattern. But to be honest, I might actually get her into 3rd gear if I followed it here on Philly streets.

Many times, I'm lucky to get out of 1st

Higher RPM + Full Gas Tank = Empty Gas Tank, Honestly you can shift whenever but shift low if your trying to get the best gas mileage. I average 35-40 mpg in the city or way to school, but I normally ride her hard. I went on a trip out of state this weekend and had my best of 61.5 mpg because of friend of mine had a bike that only pushed 65 mph.
