Default Question...

Quick question. I just got my CBR 600 F4i 2001 this week and I noticed there was a zip tie on my front fork. Is this supposed to be there or is it still there from the factory. I think it might be there to prevent the fork from bottoming out but that is just a guess. Any help guys?

Oh and question #2: there is a small **** on the lower left of the bike below the seat. What is this. It looks like it could be a choke but since it is fuel injected I dont think there is a choke lol.

Any help would be great.

ummm... not sure bout the zip tie on the fork thing. pics would be really helpful though.

as for the ****... it's similar to a choke... but it's not a choke. it's simply an idle adjuster. Turn it to raise or lower your idle RPM. I set it so I idle at 1500rpm.

The zip tie is used as a marker to set up preload when setting up suspension. It can also be used as an indicator to see if the front suspension is bottoming out. If it is bottoming out then either some suspension adjustments need to be made and/or the springs are not stiff enough and need to be changed.

the tie down can be used as an adjustment for preload, but i see jerks use that will a small rag to stop forks from leaking.

there's a stock black zip tie (thicker than hardware ones and reusable) that comes with the bike to hold some of the electronic cables to the forks as well.
