Default Putting the fairings back on.

So I put new signals in and had to take the fairings off in the process. I cant seem to line the fairings up perfect. It looks like who ever drilled the holes for the sliders didn't drill them perfect. I also lost a rubber piece that a bolt goes into.. What are they called and where can I order them? I cant seem to get the ram air covers into place either. This has been a major pain in the ***. It's so frustrating I can only work on it at 5 minutes at a time.

The rubber piece is called a well nut and you can get them for $3 at the local Honda dealer. Some hardware stores and Lowe's may also carry them as an off the shelf fastener. It may or may not be metric. Or BikeBandit via e-commerce.

Buy a handful. You'll need them. Also, buy some of the frame clips, the little funky quarter turn fasteners, You need them, too, if you strip the faring much. (I do about once a month, it seems.)

As for the alignment, you can kind of move things around a little bit, but if the holes for the sliders are way off, you're f&^%$.

for the well nuts honda usually wants 3 bucks for them i had to get some for my gsxr and at suzuki they were only 91 cents so that might save you some money. i know what you mean about putting the fairings back on the holes for my sliders are drilled perfectly but it is still a bi**h to put on, the upper cowl on mine needs to be pushed back and make sure the ram air ducts are in place it is alot easier if you have someone to help you out and push stuff in the right direction while you try to get the bolts started

If you've managed to get one screw started on one end of the fairing, don't tighten it. Just make sure it won't fall out. That'll allow the fairing to have some free play still.

They can definitely be a bitch sometimes, but you'll get it. Just don't destroy your bike out of frustration.

I agree with Aken, take your time, dont tighten the bolts until you are all done it does make it easier.

putting the front fairing on is much easier as a two person job, one holds the fairing while you put in the bolts.

I've never had issues with putting any fairings back on by myself, except for a little elbow grease and occasional swear word. Granted I'm sure it's easier with two people, but I haven't needed it. You get used to how it works after you take everything off 20 times.

I cant seem to get the air tubes lined up. But I did have to take everything BACK OFF. Its mostly back to where I was, My friends going to help me tomorrow get the rest of it squared away. I could do it by my self If I had 3 hands.

Yeah, getting these to fit into the front fairing is a bitch. A couple of tricks I've learned. Shine a flashlight in from the front and poke your fingers into the alignment right and they'll pop into place.

Quite by accident last month I had the back part of the intake tubes off when I removed the air filter housing. They went together much easier. But then putting the other end of the tube back into the filter housing is a pain.
