I know everyone praises the DID chain, but i got the -1 front, +2 rear vortex sprockets, RK XSO chain for $149.99, also got the motion pro tool for $85 to my door today in less than 3 days. Have not installed yet but will be doing this weekend, so i can't give you my opnion on the chain but it does use the X-ring instead of the O-ring, and it has a 20,000 mile warranty on the chain.
I noticed a lot of ppl didnt like the company that i got them from but i ordered from them anyways and they were nothing but nice, no complaints here especially for $149.
I'm a little ingorant of these things, but are chains really $150 bucks at a good deal?!?!?!!

they are when there included with the vortex sprockets. Normally chains alone are $120 - $175.

It's why bikes come with chainguards.
The chain can come off with enough velocity to smash a hole though your engine case (cast aluminum). It can go through the plastic like a chainsaw through a hotdog.

The chainguard is to guard your clothing from the chain and to keep oil fling off you and the bodywork.

The laws of physics of a rotating chain and forward moving motorcycle are not in your favor on this one, sir. The chainguard catches that last whip of the flinging chain.

I understand what you are getting at, AND hope that there is enough structural integrity in a thin *** piece of ABS to stop it's upward whip and guide it forward, but do I want to take the chance? Nah. I'll continue to use and suggest rivet on master links.
