kinda dumb question, but are power commanders universal?

No...they are plug and play for the factory harness on your bike.

so my moms boyfriend had one on his harley, but now he got a tuning chip, he said it was for a sport bike and if it would work on my bike i could have it

not gonna work then?

Can't he just get the wiring harness? Seems so, since every PC needs software (map). What's the deally-o?

well I guess if he somehow had the wiring that comes out of the Power commander for his bike and could take the harley one apart and reverse engineer the circuit board to figure out where to sauder each wire onto the board, and reprogram the chip to work with his bike it could work

or he could ebay the Harley one and buy the right one

im going to get a wiring harness map for the harley duece and my f4i and see if i can get it set up, if not ebay here i come!

i'm not saying its not possible, but looking at a power commander it seems you'd need a degree in electrical engineering to make it work

Haha, I don't think I'd try and make it work. By the time you ebay off the one you have, and buy the right one, you surely won't be out much money. And save a lot of time. In my opinion, no way would it be worth the time and money to mod one to work.
