Plugs
My F4i has (what I assume) are stock plugs with 18k miles on them. I'll be changing them asap. sooooooo
1. I would prefer ngk just because I'm ghey. What is the number for those?
2. Is an iridium plug worth the extra expense?
edit: I'm sure someone around here has done a how to on plugs. If you have that readily available could I get a link? I'm sure I could get to the plugs myself but a how-to would give me some confidence.

Iridium - ngk imr9a-9h
Basic - ngk cr9e
The manual says go with the Iridium, they are more money but the spark plug is the core of your motor, why go cheap on such an important part.
Plugs are super easy, just remove the air box and the plug boots. Don't forget what order the wires go. Use a socket extension to remove. Torque new ones to spec. done.

What does the manual say, and when do most of you change your OEM plugs? My bike was riden for 7k by the previous Owner and then sat for long periods of time and now I am at 12k and do quite a few "short" trips each week. Meaning I ride to work 1 mile away and back 5x/week and the bike doesnt even get up to operating temp. SOmeone told me that frequent short trips like these can foul plugs fast? Any truth to that? Btw, spark seems great...Im just wondering when to change em!

I just did mine about 300 miles ago and it was a piece of cake. Do like Sick said remove the air box and do one plug at a time. Then you do not have to remember which wire goes where. The service manual states to remove fairings and drop the radiator, thats too much work IMO. Also make sure to put some paper towels in the throttle body openings so you do not drop anything down them.
My stock plugs had 15k miles on them and they looked fine. The maintenance manual states to inspect them at 8k and replace the plugs at 16k miles. I used NGK IMR9C-9H(6777) which I picked up from O'Reilly Auto Parts for $10.50 each. I found them for $9.99 each at Advance Auto Parts but I don't have one close to my house.
