Pilot Power vs Power Road 2, rear tire
This is mostly because pros have to run within certain tires specs and rules. Technically, the GP guys who mix hard/medium/soft compounds are mixing and matching. Although I don't know what many pros are using, I do know of a few A-group riders who have matched the Pirelli slick with the DOT compound.. forgot which was front and which was rear, but it does happen and it can work, it just requires some time to figure out what can match with what and usually isn't worth the time.
I think you're going to like them, man. Especially the middle tread mileage.

Did 1,800 miles that 4 days with rain for 2 of them. The wet traction is fecking awesome, man. Seriously. I was pushing it on the skyway in the rain with them, and they were great.
I love how far tires have come....even in the last 10yrs.

I cant wait to be able to say that kigoretrout! Just to have ridden that long to be able to see the change and advancement of the motorcycle world! And nice strips, or whats left of them!! lol After about 1k on these tires Ill post back in here and let everyone know how they are, for future members!
Just get a good feel for them and they'll treat you right. I've run them hard many times, but you just have to feel them out.
I remember the old 205 (or 208's) that would slip like a ****. The first few BT021s did, too, but I hate seeing people spend money on sets of tires twice when you don't have to any more. I ran through 2 sets of ss tires for nothing just before I bought these.

just put 2500 miles on the pilot road 2's. What have I noticed? It takes just a few minutes more to warm up than the pilot powers. They are no where near as grippy as the pilot pures. The center looks as if its barely worn down.
Do I trust them that much? No. Theres just a totally different feeling behind them to be completely honest. The power pures had beautiful grip and every turn I could feel the power of the grip. With these its a cold type of grip with no feel to it( by cold I do not mean temp of the tire ). Its as if going into every corner these tires have no personality to them.
Was it worth the $20 more just for the longer tread life? Yes totally!

I've been riding with the Pilot Pure front and Road 2ct for about 5k miles. I don't push the bike half of what it is designed to be and the rear is I pretty good shape, 4k to go I hope. The front has maybe 9k on it and the center is starting to wear. I like the match and will be going back to it when this set wears out.
