Default oil change or not???

Hey everyone. I ride my bike pretty hard and was wondering if I should keep changing my oil every 3,000 miles like I've been doing or should I do it sooner since I am a little hard on the bike.

it will be fine every 3k but if you want to change it earlier and can afford it, it cant hurt

+1 to that. when you change it, see how dirty the old oil looks. if its really bad then change it sooner. if its still pretty transparent then you should be good.

Sorry but thats actually a misconception, well if you use synthetic the oil will turn black probably after 2-3k but is still fully functional until probably 6-8k on a car anyways.

I still change mine every 3k (on my car) cuz of the way i drive and will do the same on the bike.

Synthetic turns black quicker than 2-3k mi. But that's not the point here... the more oil changes you do the better.

yeah i know it will stay good, but i wouldnt wait longer than 3000 miles to change my oil. black oil is normally a good sign that your oil is just starting to get old, so i was just generalizing. as long as its not really sludgy youre still ok, but from the sound of it firemanron wouldnt be going over 3k on one change so i hope he knows what i mean

if you're using dino car stuff, don't go more than 2800...
if you're using bike specific oil, 3500 should suffice, if you're running amsoil...never change it ;-)
