Have you considered having your suspension adjusted for your height?

For the front you just loosen the triple clamp and slide the front forks up through the desired amount. I'd recommend having someone experience in setting up suspension and ride height to help with this process. If weight or ride height is off balance you could run into some severe handling problems.

If you really have to lower it, I suggest that you should take it to a professional bike mechanic and get both the rear & the front lowered equally so it won't affect the handling that much. The geometry still the same if you do it this way. Also get them to cut 1/2"-1" off your kickstand. I lowered mine and it rides pretty good but then again I'm just an average everyday commuter, no tricks, no stunt & no race track so I can't really tell that much of a difference if any.
