Default Noob - Changing Gear Shift Lever

Hi,

I need to change the gear shift lever (the footrest of which snapped off recently) on my '02 F4i. I'm a sportbike noob equipped with a little mechanical intuition from past projects. Should I try to replace this myself or would it be better done at a shop (probly for $80!) ??

DO IT. All you need is probably a 10-12mm wrench. Loosen the bolt that holds the lever onto the output shaft of the tranny. (Not really the output shaft but you know what i mean) Slide it off the splines. That'll get your linkage off, now just unbolt the rearset and be done.

That is a REALLY simple fix. If you are able to program your VCR this will be a snap.

Oh, I mean Tivo or DVR. I must be dating myself by mentioning those funny "tape" things.
