i wish i knew what happened to it lol. it clearly was neglected and has seen better days. i failed my asvab test so that means i have more time to fix it up. since i know where the problem is i am going to start putting the rest of the fairings on tomorrow. i am going to clean my tank out with acid tomorrow to get rid of the rust so when my pump setup comes in then will be all good to put that on or i might just put my aftermarket inline fuel pump andmount it to the frame lol. one way or another i will get this bike back looking good and running good. they painted it a gawd awful red color. i am thinking since it was originally sil/blk i will paint it silver with blue designs.

Hold up dude. Keep the acid in the batteries. It costs a little money but is much much safer for you and the tank. Acid will remove material. POR-15 motorcycle FUEL TANK REPAIR KIT-POR-15 Inc.

I've used it on a 1990 (22 years old) VFR tank that was rusted bad and it works. Simple as that.

Follow the instructions carefully and to the letter or you will screw it up. I've heard horror stories about other products and techniques and can see how easily bad things could happen.

if it's the pulse generator then you're FI light should start flashing after a few failed attempts at starting the bike. Usually, it's after the 2nd attempt when the bike does not start... the FI light will give you a solid which is followed by 9 fast blinks. it should be noted that with this problem, your fuel pump will still prime. You can tell this when you turn the key to the on position, and you hear a long eeeeeeeeeeeeee sound.

If you have no FI codes, then I would start with the 3 fundamentals: check for gas, spark, and compression. once you figure out what you don't have, then you can work backwards.

google 2001 cbr600 f4i repair manual, the top result should be a manual.
its on this forum somewhere
check to see if there is voltage across the brown and green wire where your fuel pump
plugs in, you should have 12 volts for a few seconds
look on the fuel pump end to see what color if its all taped up, it should be the two closest to the inside of the bike. i think
