Default Is it my linkage or my tranny?

This morning I tried to take off with my brake lock still attached.

When I fell over on my left, I did SOMETHING to either my shifter or my tranny. Now when I ride my shifter violently rattles when I'm moving.
It keeps rattling even if I try and damper it with my foot, and it feels like the source is coming from the tranny.

It's very hard to diagnose exactly what's wrong with it because it only rattles like that when the bike is in motion. I tried putting the bike in N and revving the engine up to see if RPM had anything to do with it, and apparently it did not. No amount of revving caused the "vibrations" i feel when actually riding.

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have a fix? Do I just need to take the bike in to a shop (I'm broke so this is hopefully not the case)?

Thanks for any help!

sound like the shifter linkage. tranny's don't tend to just go bad after getting dropped. make sure the shifter linkage is tight, and fastened down correctly, and make sure it's not bent.

That's what I would hope, but do you think that's the case since it's such a strong vibration? I mean even putting my foot on it, intentionally trying to suppress it doesn't seem to help.

I'm kinda new to bikes though, so I'm not sure what exactly can be tightened on the linkage. So far I can only find two bolts and they seem to be tight.

So, I figured it out. It turns out I bent the mounting bracket that holds the peg and shifter and that was causing the linkage to rub against the chain which is what caused the vibration I was feeling. I crowbarred it back so that it was straight.

Seems fixed, although one thing I have noticed is some harder shifting from neutral into 1st or neutral into second. I'll mess with that later though.
