Default 96 Gearshift linkage?

On my F3 the gearshift linkage is mounted correctly for the normal shift pattern with the bracket pointing towards the ground, but it's currently running with the reverse pattern shifting. I know the motor has been rebuilt, is it possible to change something internally that changes the shift pattern?

Dont really know, I guess anything is possible with enough money etc. If you want normal shifting just switch the linkage around on the rod it on coming out of the motor. And only push it back on by hand, dont use a friggin hammer to get it back on. When it lined up correctly it will slip right on.

F2 motors/trans have the shift linkage pointing the opposite way (up). So I'm guessing it's either got an F2 motor in it or someone swapped in F2 trans parts by mistake. I think it's the shift drum that reverse the pattern.
