Default Is My Fuel Pump Going Bad?

Hey All!

I own a 2002 CBR600 F4i.

The fuel pressure regulator went out last week, so I changed it out. It was still not running right so I swapped out the plugs (thought maybe it had fouled plugs).

I just finished replacing the plugs, and now the fuel pump is making the sound in the video below.

#2 Please watch the end of the video, where it shows the FI light indicating one of the codes. Can someone please tell me what code this is?

If for some reason you can't watch the video, the FI light sequence is : LONG - LONG - short-short-short

Thanks in advance!

Here's the video:

code 23

longs = 10
shorts = 1

So 23 , which is O2 sensor (inland empire being Cali bike) makes perfect sense !,
check connections first before dropping bills on a new sensor

From reading the manual that code is for a faulty O2 sensor heater. 2 long blinks equals 20 blinks (10 each) then 3 more for 23 blinks if I'm doing it right.

EDIT: I missed the above posts but the code is for the O2 sensor heater, which is apparently built into the sensor.

Fuel Pump : hard to tell, seems to be just the normal priming buzz to me tho' !

Most fuel injected systems do it - if ya listen hard enough

Keep in mind my ears are plugged from an earlier flight lol

Maybe the video doesn't transmit the sound well, but its definitely a new sound and its a "bad" sound, if that makes sense.

I guess I should ask the question this way... do fuel pumps make abnormal sounds before they quit, or do they just suddenly quit?

Yea, I can hear that it's not the normal sound of the fuel priming. It could be about to go, I've read marvel mystery oil can do wonders on dying fuel pumps though it was in a car. Try dumping double the recommended dose in your next fill up and see if the sound gets better.
