Default maintenance

My bike is goin in the shop for a valve adjustment, this is my first bike so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of what i should have them check out while its in there. Its a 2002 with 15,000 miles and i already did the plugs. It runs great other then for the valves and i may have them check out the cam chain tensioner too. Also Im thinking of getting a power commander due to the previous owner installed a full header back exhaust and never had it tuned for it, which is why I believe its not runnin at optimal performance. Any way with the power commander my worry is blowin the motor i should be ok tho right?

They should check the CCT when they look at the valves. Lol, you'll be fine with a PC3, it'll give you a much more linear powerband and much better throttle response. On a side note, by far the most neglected piece of equipment on a bike is the drive chain. I see all kinds of bikes parked around with super shiny wheels and slick paint jobs but their chains look like they've been to hell and back. Keep it cleaned and lubed and you'll be set to go...
