I bought my bike in Jan. Its got good tires on it and the shop said they changed the oile in it(filter looks new). Its got 7000 miles on it now and I was told by a guy at work that alot of bike manuf. say to do a tune up after 4000 miles. Is this right? I would think plugs would last longer than that.Im sure its time for an air filter and oil change. Im gonna replace the chain and sprockets soon also. Got any sugg/info on what to do?

 

Go by the schedule in the service manual, it's pretty accurate. If you are going to do it yourself I would suggest checking everything while you are under the tank (valve clearance, replace sparkplugs, manual cam chain tensioner because the stock one will fail, air filter, and oil change). You might as well start from scratch so you know what you have.
