lol i personally wouldnt lower my bike (no need) but i have a short friend that had a r6 and was in a similar situation as the op so we threw on some vortex lowering links and he was VERY happy with how it turned out and he didnt notice a difference...

but i wouldnt know first hand (and im sure results vary from bike to bike)

Ya'll ain't listening. He said she won't be doing hard twisty riding or anything... Yet.... To his knowledge... Once she has her own ride, he may start wondering where she is.

Lowering Your Bike Safely - The Long and Short of It. Good article on lowering a bike. Mentions something the others haven't yet: a lowered bike will scrape bits sooner. That will affect the bike's lean limits. Now if she doesn't expect to be dragging a knee or tackling the Dragon any time soon, you can prolly get away with lowering it the cheap way (lowering dogbone and raising the fork tubes).

And as I mentioned before, these are prolly an option for her too

Just saying, given what she's wearing already

Between those boots and minor lowering looks like she could be flat footed. Plus you wouldn't have to worry about her bike (opposed to buy her something else)... only her riding ability

Christ guys - I was going to show her this thread... but now I can't. No way.

Do you know how big of a shoe problem she already has?

Have her try to sit on it with regular shoes. I'm sure she'll see a difference (from the sandals). From there, she can get some riding boots, and she should be fine! The few times I took a ride with just regular shoes on, I was almost up on my toes like she is. It's a world of difference in my boots! I thought about lowering mine when I started, gotta say I'm glad I didn't
