well...check the fiche...the old part ended in j22...the new one j23...my j22 barely made any noise. j23 made more noise but not the crazy earth shaking ignoring rattling like many claim or like the others i've been on.

yea mang...i replaced it all with stock. i'd rather just keep on replacing it every 10K than to adjust it and have it be too tight...

Yup
It's the same motor in the bike from 2001-2006

Your bike isn't "affected"....it's just a noise that you're gonna hear
Either put up with it, or replace it with the manual APE or another stock one

And I personally can't stand the noise....so in the next week I'm gonna be ordering me a manual APE tensioner

Why am I going with the APE??
Seems the stock one is gonna fail again....might as well just change it once. And I'll just have to check the tightness every so often (like 5 or 10,000 miles?).
I'd rather spend the $60 (one time) on the APE, instead of $50 for a OEM CCTL that'll fail & then have to spend another $50 when that one fails in the future.

That's my reasoning anyways.

...but you wound up selling the bike, so it really doesn't matter and you spent that extra $10 for nothing, right?

I'll go with the stock one again. I don't even know if i'll still have the bike for another 8k miles...but if i do it'll probably be another four years or so before i'll have to replace it again.

WRONG!

Same motor yes, however Honda upgraded the CCT for I believe 04, but definitely the 05 has the upgraded CCT.

where did you get this info? part number in 03 went from j22 to j23...
is it a j24 now or something or are you going by the blue vs. orange dots?

And would it be possible to fit the newer cct on the older 01-03 engines? If so, that would seem to be the best course of action.

you can only buy the new cctls...you can't get the j22 anymore...even if you f up the order and put j22...a j23 will arrive in the mail.

Nice. So why go with a manual if the new 'stock' one is all fixed and self-adjusting???
