I Messed Up

good luck bud and be sure to tell us about it. dont worry bout telling them your majors because after growing up with law enforcement (mom dad all their friends) the judge really doesnt care and it wont change their opinion at all. you may get frigged for the plate. should have just not put one on at all, and you may get frigged with the helmet. i only have my permit too. i know how it is. haha.

It just occurred to me that it may actually be worth calling up the officer and talk to him about the ticket, and with you in college the impact it may have. College isn't cheap and everything comes with a cost. You made a big mistake, you've learnt from it, ask for leniency. If the officer is willing to work with you, when you go before the judge to contest the ticket, and the officer is on your side....believe me the judge will ask him to speak...it may help you tremendously. The whole idea is to invoke some leniency on the part of the judge. I pray it works out for you...it's tough when you know you made a mistake and gotta pay the price.

Got my car detailed and went out for a ride without putting the papers back in the glove box. Got pulled over for speeding. No Proof of Insurance, No Proof of Registration, and no Driver's Licence, left my wallet So...count it...I got 4, citations including the speeding ticket. Cop understood I went to university in the town, one that was certainly not cheap and notorious for that. Anyhow, he cited me for not having all the documents in my possession. Cop was real friendly, and I contested my tickets before a judge, and to no surprise, he had no problems with the judge dropping them all.
INCIDENT #2:
Got pulled over for speeding again, this time out of state. I decided to fight it. Few weeks later I called up the cop and asked if he was willing to lower it to a lesser offence or drop it altogether, gave a good explanation. And he was cool lowering it to something simple like jaywalking or some non-moving violation...I can't remember. He didn't gotta go to court, and I didn't either.
INCIDENT #3:
Another speeding ticket, long story short it got dropped. Anyhow, I hope you get my point.... Talk to the cop, unless you were a jerk...chances are, some are willing to help or at minimum they will work with you.
To the OP...hope it works out for you!

Honest citizens in courts are a breath of fresh air. I've gotten out of doing 70 mph over the speed limit (100 - 105 mph in a 35 mph zone) simply cause I told the cop the truth.
"Yes, I know what the speed limit is"
"Yes, I know how fast I was going"
"I was weaving in and out of traffic because I was doing 100 and they were doing 35."
"I'm telling the truth because I won't insult you by trying to lie"
"Err... No I prolly won't slow down after you let me go"
"Thank you for escorting me home, officer"
Of course that was a double "Once In A Lifetime" occurance. "Double" cause we went out several times after that

All of those incidents have something in common... speeding. It's not that difficult to have a petty little speeding ticket dropped. Riding an unregistered bike is alittle more serious than speeding, same with not wearing eye protection. I cant even go 30 mph without being pratically blind, when I spin around the block to warm the chain up for lube, when I'm not wearing eye protection.
Last year I got pulled over in Akron, and I got written up for the speed, no proof of license, and no insurance card. When I took that to court, the mag said he would drop it because I had proof with me (much like I do this time with the title and all). However, when I looked at my driving record, it still had a "Credentials Violation" on it, which shouldn't be there. So hopefully, even if I don't get all the way out of this, he'll take that damn violation off...

Teko1020...you are missing the point....again. Clearly you need to read the OP before you start bumping your lips.
We're not talking about his actions. He's in the wrong and got cited. The fact that he got several citations and the bike towed sums that up pretty well. We're talking about getting some leniency. He is not trying to go to court to argue he is in the right and the cop in the wrong. He is simply trying to present himself and his case to get some form of leniency....do you get the picture? His OP was a lesson to all, and we're trying to give some feedback on how he can help himself to get some of it reduced.... hopefully this all makes sense to you now...and if you got nothing positive to say...perhaps some things best left unsaid, eh?

Teko.. you seem to run your mouth a lot. every thread i see you in, you're being ignorant. one day, everybody on the forum will be as perfect as you. but in the meantime, quick being a pr!ck. i said i got in trouble. i said i was worried. did i say the cops were wrong to pull me over? no..but i'm trying to not get destroyed in court.
and for the record..the title WAS in my name before I got it.. it was signed over to me on Monday...and I got it in the mail on Friday. I got pulled over on Friday...and the date on the title says Monday. keep your assumptions to yourself.
i'm trying to get some help from the members on the forum. and one day, god forbid, if you ever mess up, we'll be here to help you too. i just need some advice. thanks for any positive input you give. i appreciate it. but if you're going to judge me, and make bull**** comments with your snide attitude, then don't post on the thread, because you clearly don't have anything that will help the situation. i appreciate your help Runway, you've been very kind through all this.
