Default how often are you supposed to change brake pads?

i have 03 f4i with 10,xxx miles. i ride pretty conservative, mostly highway and back road twisties. Im not to hard on the. I bought the bike with 4,xxx miles on it, and i would assume the pads had not been changed before that. As far as i can tell my brakes have good stopping power and dont seem to be fading. Is there a wear line on the pads or is it all about feel? what is the normal miles per pads usually?

Thanks

Mike (CT)

yeah there is some what of a wear line that runs down the middle of the pad. what you can no longer see it. i would say change them, i always change them when i am doing anything that i have to take the tire off anyways. they are fairly cheap to replace and supper easy.

Drew, get on motorcyclesuperstore.com or go to your local shop. It depends on the brands like Z said, but it also depends on the type of pads you get.

I think I spent 70 dollars for both front and rear total? I replace mine when I have to noticeably squeeze the brake lever more.
