Yeah, long trips on an F4i isn't that bad at all. I made a trip from NY to VA Beach, which as like 600+ miles or so one way. I had my friend who came with us in his car, so I had my clothes in his car and what not.

Hopefully here's the pic you need... - '02 F4i in Extended cab GM pickup - 5.5' box and it almost fit to where I could close the tailgate.

Canyon Dancers did the bars - couple of straps to the pass footpegs and one around the tire to make sure the rear didn't move around.

In Nov, I jammed it in the Grand Caravan on the way to winter storage - much easier - didn't have a nice 4' deadlift to get it in the box, just pulled next to the curb and rolled it in the side door. - Bonus with the van - 20-25MPG vs. 10-15 on a F150... (If you can get over the van stigma though...)

I don't think 5 hours is too long of a ride. Take some gas stop breaks, and some pee breaks, and it's all good lol.

Well, I guess when you put it that way...a stop every hour or two, it might be doable.

5 hours is definitely doable, but it would be rough to ride that with my girl on the back, and if i'm going away for a week or so it would be almost impossible to take enough gear with me too, so I was just curious. Obviously since last year i got a 8 foot bed pick up truck which works wonderfully.

but i'm glad this thread came back from the dead :-)
