How to adjust the Rear Shock Absorber
Hi everyone. My previous bike was a TRX and I’ve just acquired a used F4i. This is my first post andso far, I'menjoyingriding it.
The other minor issue I noticed is that I can feel a slight tingling vibration on the handlebar while riding. The previous owner must have fitted a sports version or remove the restrictor of the Yoshi pipe as I find itbloody loud with a higher pitch sound to the extend that it is annoying when travelling under 100 kmh and this is with ear plugs on! I guess the upside is that cars can hear my bike coming, especially before they decide to change lanes. I quite like the deeper rumble sound of the TRX butI guess in-line fours makes a different sound. Just my thoughts on the F4 and it is just a matter of time that I will get used to it.
My concern is that I’m trying to adjust the rear shock absorber spring pre-load using the supplied C Spanner as it has been set to no. 7, which is too firm for me. For some reason, I just cannot turn it either way? Is there a locking mechanism that I have to release first before it can be adjusted?

you just gotta crank it hard. they are a pita and hard to move.
you may want to wear your riding gloves doing it...when it finally budges, your knuckles will thank you.

Yeah, it's a royal pain to adjust...on any of them. Go to the hardware store and get a section of pipe that's about 1 foot long, or even longer, and slip it over the spanner wrench for leverage...and to save your hands. Just move it slowly but firmly.
My bike as well as a new dealer bike has the 7 setting at the top of the spring where there is a tab. Is this the correct place to read the pre-load setting? It seems odd that even a new bike is set at the the higher end of the adjustment.
Thats probably because they know these bikes are being sold in the US!!!! And lets face it we dont have the reputation of Asia!!! We are better known for bein FAT!!!! From what I understand, feel free to correct me, is that most of your stock suspensions are set up for 165lb rider. Most of the bigger guys that I know, actually bought their bikes brand new and the first mod was new suspension, even before the fender eliminator, full exhaust, or power commander!!!!!!!!
