Default (Hopefully) Buying an F4i, Couple Questions

Hi guys,

So I found a bike on craigslist- a 2003 CBR F4i. It's in rough shape- scratches all over the fairing, and some cracks. The only non-fairing damage is a ding in the exhaust (doesn't look like a big deal), and some scrapes on the left engine case (from it being laid down). I've only seen pictures of it, but the guy seems very straightforward about it. Apparently he bought it with the intention of fixing it up and just never got around to it.

Anyway, I was able to talk him down to 2800, contingent on the rest of the bike being sound mechanically. I know enough to do a decent motorcycle inspection, however I was looking for some advice from you guys on F4i-specific things to know about. I have already read about the CCTL and will be expecting that. Is there anything else to look out for?

Also, I plan to replace the fairings. I'm hoping to only spend 500-600 to do this. Does anyone have any place they recommend? I'm wary of eBay because I do not want fitment issues. People seem to be happy with Motorcyclefairingsrus.com, any thoughts on them?

Thanks a lot everyone!

We will give you a good discount on our fairings for a review. We just can't do the tank, so maybe need to get your tank painted locally.

Look the bike and engine over carefully. Make sure that the engine case around the stator cover isnt cracked. Look for repairs that have been done because of the wreck. Ccts ans r/rs are common failure items, but not a big enough reason to avoid a bike.
If you dont know what your looking at, bring someone who does. Good luck!

I would also add if the seller doesn't want to removed the fairings for you to do a thorough inspection, then turn around and walk away. I say this because I just bought a cbr and even though it's running strong, I found numerous issues with wiring and shotty maintenance done to my radiator.
