Default RE: HID Question.

HID's are not designed to work with regular halogen reflector bows and the light HID's produced is scattered all over rather then reflected in a single directions like it is w/ the projectors. It blinds everybody no matter what you try to do and will get you tickets
False. There are SO many factory-HID-equipped cars that use the standard headlamp reflector (older generation Nissan Maxima's for example). My parents had one of these cars equipped from the factory with an HID headlamp system. And yep, the headlamps were exactly the same as the non-HID equipped models. So the argument that projectors have something to do with HID's is completely false.

Projector's are a more efficient way of getting light to the road (which is the reason auto manufacterer's are using them regardless if the vehicle is halogen or HID.) Meaning, not all cars with projectors are HID-equipped. Which means projectors have NOTHING to do with HID's.

It does not project it far enough to be considered better in my opinion.
Of course it doesn't "project" better than halogens. HID's don't "project" because it's only a different type of bulb. Of course it's not going to reach further, because your lens is what reflects the light. The HID's will only reach as far as your headlamp housing will allow, but they will be much brighter than standard halogens, which allows you to see better. (the whole point of having headlamps, to see at night.) The brighter the light, the better we can see. HID's on our bikes will.......

A. Creative a whiter, brighter light on the road surface.
B. Have the distinct visual appearance of HID-equipped vehicles.
C. Draws LESS power from the vehicle (35w versus 55w with standard Halogens)

All hid's are designed to be used with a projector rather than a reflector.
Again, HID's have nothing to do with projectors, which makes your statement false.

So please guys, I've stated I've done extensive research into HID systems (and retrofitting non-HID equipped vehicles with an HID system.) No, you can't get a ticket as long as you have a DOT approved HID kit (which would be from Philips, Sylvania, etc. etc.) These kits cost more than the cheaper eBay kits because they're DOT approved. That's it. Even the cheap eBay kits are built with the same Philips and Sylvania components.......they just haven't gone through the DOT Approval process.

Anything else you guys wish to discuss? Or have questions about?

Yes I have two ballast's. I power both of them using the high beam wire. This way I can have them on or off.
Gotcha.

^^ LOL.

Didn't mean to be as brash or as jackass-ish as I was. Kind of in a bad mood today (not much sleep last night.)

Now, I'm not saying that I know absolutely everything about HID systems, but I researched them like there's no tomorrow (talking months of reading spec manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, how their built, how they work, different types of gases used, igniter problems, high-voltage silicone wiring specifications, etc.) After all that, I consider myself very well educated about HID's........and I'm more than happy to spread that information around to those who want it.

My 2004 STi did not have projectors and had HID low beams. You will not find projectors on all factory HID light systems.

no as on ALL factory equipped hid vehicles sold in the us.. the high beams are standard halogen while the low beams are hids.. the constant flickering of the high beams on and off is very hard on the ballasts/ignitors and that is why they don't use high beam hids on anything from the factory, though they are developing projectors with a cutoff point that moves up when u turn on the highbeams.

I am assuming you are pointing out the high beam reflector housing which looks somewhat like a projector in that pic...i assure u it is not

lol you are right that flicking is hard on the ballast, but you are wrong a lot of factory equipped hid vehicle come with bi-xenons which have both high/low hids. My BMW does for example.

I'm reffeing to the shield in the headlight's reflective bowl for the halogen headlight that covers the front part of the bulb. That's clear indication of low beam ligth. High beams do not have that shielding cap.
