Default HID Question

I just installed the dim side and checked to make sure i did it right and i did but i had a couple questions. I hear a buzzing noise and i assume its the ballast. ??? Is this normal and will it go away or will it always do that? Also, i noticed the balast to be a little warm, but does it get hot to the piont where i need to be careful where i fix it to the bike?? After these questions get answered i will be continuing and install the brights side. I love them so far and all i saw is what it looked like in my garage.

Anyone? Is the buzz noise normal and does the ballast get hot or just a little warm?

I know with my HID's they do make a buzzing noise for about 15 secs and then it goes away. As far as if they got hot idk, my HID's are tucked in the front fairing and i really can't get to them. I imagine they would get kinda warm.

OK. Mine seem to buzz more than 15 secs. I left them on for a few minutes and they were still buzzing after that. Is that normal?

What kit do you have? It's just when they are warming up. The ballasts shouldn't get hot to the point where you have to worry about where they're mounted. The common spot is in between the two bulb housings.

I wanted to mount them between the headlight housings....its flat and they fit nice and snug in there. I bought the Dual Motorcycle 35W 6000K from DDM Tuning.

I got both sides installed and the bike put back together. I went for about a half hour ride and when i came back the ballast is still buzzing. Is this normal?

I just installed my DDM tuning kit. Mine has a buzz for around 15 seconds then stops. As far as the heat. When your riding the bike there is a suction that happens under the windscreen/front fairing. The air flow will help with cooling the ballast.

Is your kit from DDM? What is the watt?

Mine is the slim ballast kit from DDM and 35watt with 6k bulbs.

Ballasts will get somewhat hot, but not to the point of being a danger to anything. If it does, then something went wrong.

As for the buzzing, I've never heard that from any of my HID kits, so I don't know. It could just be a feature of some specific brands.
