Default HID advice

I know this has been asked before, but im lookin at buying some HID after having a friend killed by a woman not paying attention and pulling out in front of him at night. I have looked around and found them in range from 80-240 bucks. Average price and what i want to spend is around 120.

So for those of you who have bought hid online, give me your opinions. I'm probably gonna go with 10,000k because i like the look of the deep blue. I would like to get both hi and low beams put in. Also post some pics if you can to give me some ideas what it will actually look like.

There is a very long post on this called HID slim ballasts, it will answer most of your questions. Use the search function to find it.

I got mine for 79 dollars shipped. And you will want the 6000k not the 10K, the 6K will give the blue and is the brighest.

I bought HID but I've yet to install them. I personally try not to drive at night.

But in my opinion if your going for safety I would go for 4000-5000k cause they have a better brighter light output and are closest to actual sunlight.

When the lights get more blue...light output decreases

i know the 10k output is lower, i just like the blue tint it gives off. They are still 2x brighter then what i have now. I dont need the sun in my headlamps, just enough to make it annoying to drivers, but at least they know im there! what website did u guys buy them off of.

Thanks. I'm surprised how cheap they are, and you guys have had no problems?

The problem with blue light is that it makes dark, non- reflective things such as grass, trees and bushes appear black. Not sure if you ride in the country at all, but if you do, you're better off with halogens than 10,000K HIDs. I ride in the sticks once in a while, and rode a friends bike with 10,000K HIDs, and it felt like there was a vast nothingness beyond the white lines. If you're doing a lighting upgrade, why not make it functional? I have 4300K in my bike and wouldn't recommend anything over 6000K.

I have HIDs in every vehicle I have since they're almost as cheap as halogens and are way better... My first set is going on two years old, and have had zero problems with them. At the time, they were the cheapest I could find- about $100. Now, I'm seeing them in the $55-$60 range. How much are a good set of Silverstar halogens, again? lol...
