Default Help with the Tach.

I didn't get any responses in the general tech section so i thought i might ask the f4i enthusiasts, any direction would be helpful. Thank you.

Anyone have any ideas why the tach on my 2002 f4i stopped working? I checked for loose connections in the back of the gauge cluster, as well as for blown fuses. I was looking at other posts for the same issue only found one that said to check the connections... When i turn the bike on the tach does the up and down sweep through the rpms(mph, clock, and lights work fine). I hate not being able to see the rpms.. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the sensor where it get's the info from the engine, since it goes up and back to zero when you turn the key on.

would you happen to know if this is a replaceable sensor or part of the ecu? I have the service manual I have no idea what that would be called. Thank you.

Hey, who needs the tach??
Just listen to the sound of the eingine... that'll tell ya!
j/k

I'm sure you've already done this...but just to make sure:
Doesn't the service manual have the info about what the connectors are, and where they're located?
Check page 19-13. (also refer to 19-11, 19-8).

I replaced the guages and there was no difference. Iincidentally I now have a working set of gauges with 4600 miles on them for sale... just send me an email. The next step is to replace the ECM.... If that doesn't work I guess ill have to take it to the shop.

Did you drop the bike or replace the battery recently? Just curious?
