Help with my new CCT. Loctite??
Hey so i had decided because of all the stuff i hear about the OEM CCT dying on people i might as well change it to the ape. So i bought the ape and i tightened it the the best of my ability. rode about 35 miles and heard the clicking. bike dies on me on the freeway because the bolt backed its self out. Had to call my buddy with a truck to throw it in the bed cause tow truck company wanted to charge me 130 bucks just to take it off the freeway. So i just retightened it but i put red loctite on the bolt before i cranked it in. Is this going to be a problem? will the loctite melt from the heat of the engine and will the bolt back out again? Please let me know. Thanks guys.
red loctite wont melt. you probably wont have trouble with that bolt backing out ever again... it may be hard to get out next time you want it out though.
Are you sure your bike starts? Too lose of the timing chain and you risk jumping teeth on the cam sprockets and thats not going to make you or the bike happy.
Never needed any locktight. Just put some extra "umph" on the locking nut.
Agreed with the blue if anything. Do not use the red.
