Default Help me troubleshoot please...

Two years in a row now my bike will not start after sitting through winter. Last year the plugs were shot. So this year I went ahead and threw a new set in (the old ones didn't look to bad this time) but still a no go. Fuel pump is priming, no blown fuses that I can find, and I have spark. Any Ideas?

did you have stabil in the fuel? todays gasoline is crap after a couple of days. drain the tank, get new fuel and add half a can or so of seafoam.

There wasn't any stabil in the fuel that was in it. I drained the tank and filled it with fresh 93 and after a decent amount of cranking it kicked over. It ran fine for 10 min then I shut it off to put the seat on to take it for a ride and now it will not start again. Also since the fairings were off I noticed exhaust coming from between the block and the head of the 3rd bank. Would a blown head gasket cause all this?

Blown head gasket could cause alot of problems but I wouldnt jump to that conclusion yet. was the exhaust for sure coming from the gasket area or could it have been leaking around the number 3 exhaust port? the exhaust gaskets tend to leak especially if the header has been removed anytime. How did the bike run last year before you parked it? easy to start when cold? easy to start when hot? how many miles and have the valves been checked? does holding the throttle wide open when cranking make any difference? It could be alot of things but im just trying to get a feel for a specific place to look.

Pretty sure it was coming from the gasket area. The header has never been removed since I bought it with 4000 miles. Im right at 13000 now, valves have never been checked either. It was running fine before I parked it. I started it every 2 or 3 weeks and let it run for a bit. About a month went by since the last start then it would no longer start. It always started fine hot or cold. When I got it to start earlier I had to hold it WOT to get it to start then it idled fine.

It wont start with it WOT now though? It could be the fuel pressure regulator which floods the bike out when it goes.

Battery was low on juice from cranking so I had to hook it up the charger. I was already planning on replacing my Fuel pressure regulator due to the plugs filing out. Im going to pick on up tomorrow and hopefully get it in this week.
