Give it a 1/4 turn at a time until the slapping noise goes away. And remember -- it's a 4 valve ohc with shim under bucket adjustment ... it's gonna make some noise (ticking and tapping).

I did that, and the noise went away. It only makes this vibrating/ buzzing noise while in gear, at about 5.5... Do you think i need another turn or so?

Then you should be good to go. That buzz is most likely a harmonic vibration that was always there but you didn't notice due to the chain slap. I don't know of any way to get rid of that kind of buzz. Most bikes will have this at some point in the RPMs.

My bike is a little buzzy if I cruise in a mid-gear at those revs, I think it has always done it (it now has 1650 miles on it). My guess is don't worry about it unless it changes.

I just turned 3000 mi on my '04 and it has pretty much sounded the same since I got it. Really the only time it's sounded or behave different is when the drive chain starts getting some slack and need tighted. But other than that it's been fairly consistent.
