I dont have a F4i. Wish I did. And if I did I would post questions like this in the F4i section. lol. You would probably have had a response already.

Many have done it. Its a popular upgrade to the old Honda design.

Honda upgraded their design to being larger and have cooling fins cast in on later models.

i know you have to worry about the wiring matching up so is there a certain gsxr that you can get that will match the 02 cbr f4i wiring.

I was looking at the ones on ebay. It seems the factory Honda F4i reg/rec has 7 wires so I figure you need a Suzuki GSXR reg/rec with 7 wires which some of them do and some of them dont. I got one for my F2's, just in case, but I got the one with 5 wires because the F2 has 5 wires. Once I figured out which wires went where, I depinned and swapped some but not all, of the GSXR reg/rec wires to match the Honda plug and wires. Then I cut the "wall" off of the Suzuki one, so now it plugs into the Honda wire harness. Just add a ziptie to hold it together since theres no "catch" on it now. I dont use the Suzuki one, I bought it "just in case" but I did plug it in and started the bike just to make sure it work, which it did. In the F2 section there is a reg/rec "sticky" that might help you and somewhere in there is mention of the 7 wire GSXR unit.

Its not as good as gsxr one, with cooling fins. The gsxr one was designed to have a heavier load on due to the "accessories" than some gixxer boys tend to run.

But I still think the best benefit (which generally happens in the swap) comes from hard wiring it, thus deleting the connector, which is where a lot of problems arise from.

All the problems my friends locally have had with F4i's always comes back to a connector somewhere in the harness.

Yea my r/r went out and took the battery with it and my head light so, I'm debating whether or not to go with an oem Honda one or a gsxr one, I got to trace whatever wire or connector it messed up because it pops the 20 amp fuse also, one minute it would charge at 12.4 to 13.6 them 18 to 19 volts, made my battery smell like eggs so I turned it off after checking voltage and it's popped fuses ever since, took my headlight out and just pops the 20 among use everytime, so I know the gsxr r/r is cheaper than Honda so that has me leaning towards it and it's more durable essentially, just wanted to make sure guys have had good success with the swap before I make a decision is all, and trace wires out, not sure yet what ima do
