I ride with the cover off and I gotta say, a lot of dirt gets in there. I actually followed this for the shift conversion. Video was a lot better then those black and whites.

Ya I saw that video very helpfull but I think you still need to leave the cover off or cut it still. I guess no one has try to use the other shifter.
