I took the F4i to the strip again today. The only thing I changed was the addition of a Shift-I (progressive LED shift light). I picked up .323 by shifting sooner. I'm launching at 5-6K and shifting around 12.5- 13k. Seems like a huge jump for such a small change. I can't recall seeing a torque map to pick a better shift point. What do you shift at?

Shift points are super critical on smaller motors. I haven't had mine on dyno yet to see where it's making power. Currently all I have is 11K chip for my autoshifter. I'm sure XX motor would be happier shifting at lower rpm's. I gotta get me one of those adjustable modules so I don't have to keep buying/changing chips.

 

FYI...F4I's are more than capable of turning 6.80s in the 1/8th. Keep hammering away at that 60 ft. times.

6.80 for a stock bike? That's quick! I made some runs against a Yamaha 600. Her 1/8 was 7.2. that's with sprockets, a bar, and an air shifter.

The smoother I release the clutch, the higher launch RPMs I can manage. I've read some people launch at 8K and upwards. Not for me yet!

One of the Hyabusa's there was shifting way below redline. I think somewhere between 9-10k? He said it was a drastic improvement.

 

a 680 maybe if its stretched and lowered. look for some consistant 740s once you get leaving and shifting in the same point down. 6.80s isnt gonna happen unless you strrech and lower it. Then it may not happen I have a buddy with a 600 gsxr lowered streched with gears and a pcIII usb mapped. he ran a 692 best with about 720-730s generaly.
The fastest I ran with my old 954 streetfighter was 7.18 at 109 mph with a slow 60ft time. so 680s on a stock setup 600cc isnt gonna happen.

 

Lowered, but not stretched. 60 ft. times were in 1.65-1.68 range. It was a buddy's. He bracket raced it with 6.88 dial in's all day long.

 

well that isn't quite just stock it helps. But he was killing the 60' time. That leaving hard as hell.

 

My best friend had an 06 600RR that ran a 6.77 twice. It was 1 down on front sprocket and lowered, that was it. He ran VP U2 fuel with stock exhaust. That lil thing would scream! Anyways, my point to Cranberryroo was to keep working on that 60 ft. Working on the riding part is the fun part (and cheapest). Practice practice practice.

 

I've got the 60' down to 2.026. I can't remember if my shift light is set at 12000 or 12500 but i'm getting 11.7s. Looks like 13K was a little quicker. I'm hoping to take it to a Dyno soon and get some real numbers.

 

I would say get your bike on a dyno and see where your bike stops increasing power and shift at that point. Unless your about to cross the line, then rev out the rest of the gear you are in.
